January Meeting was held at 2p.m. Monday, January 28th 2008 at the American Legion Hall.  Sorry, I goofed and forgot to take pictures.  Discussion was about our spring Art and Craft show to be held on Saturday, April 5th INDOORS! at the American Legion.  We will also have a bake sale and a "make it and take it" where members can offer a craft kit and demonstrate how to put it together.  Tables are FREE for members, $10 non-members.

Our fall Art show will be combined with Edie DeSoto's sidewalk sale again this year, in front of DeSoto's hair salon, since it worked out so well last year.

Patti Van Horn demonstrated silk painting.  This is where I forgot to pull out the camera - it was so breathtaking.  My bad!  Supplies are available from www.dharmatradingcompany.com and www.dickblick.com.  Next month's demo - Vida on tole painting.

February's meeting was held, same place, same time, on Monday, February 25th 2008.  More planning for the April 5th show, and poster making.  Posters will go up about 10 days before, so call Katy or Maryruth to get some to put up wherever you go between Easter and April 5th.

Watercolor landscape was the subject of Ted's presentation at our March 26, 2007 meeting.  Here we are, putting forth our best efforts.

Dr. Karen shared about her recent trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, to view "Bodies...The Exhibition".  Although she was fascinated with the show from the perspective of a physician, she says it is also good to look at the displays of human organs and body systems with "an artist's eye", with a view to more accurate and sensitive reproduction in one's art.  The exhibit is at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas through May 28th, for more info visit www.bodiestheexhibition.com

Our next meeting is Monday, April 30th at the American Legion Hall, at 1p.m.

Patty Van Horn did our February 2007 presentation on Mandalas.  Mandalas are symbolic pictures used in meditation.  Ideally they are drawn from the subconcious rather than by concious deliberation.  Here we are, putting forth our efforts.

At our January 2007 meeting, Robyn Dolan gave a hands on presentation of counted cross stitch.  It seems a couple of our members may have found a new passion.  Can't wait to see if Dr. Karen's yellow bug ends up looking like her real VW bug.  For an interesting history of the origins of this needle art, visit www.classiccrossstitch.com.

June 2006

Art in the Park was great fun.  Dr. Karen busied herself doing pastel portaits of patrons and vendors alike.  Tree and Liz McGowan of The Eagle's Path plyed their wares from the hood of a car that Tree cleverly designed into a table.  Susan tempted us with her hand-dipped chocolates.  Marion, Joyce, Ted and our other painters delighted our eyes with their displays.  Karon amazed us with her incredible hand crafted native drums.

There were hand woven purses, handmade jewelry, scrimshaw and Patty's dazzling stained glass works.  Children enjoyed games and won prizes.  Michelle's Deli kept us fed with her delectable homemade pizza.

Entertainment was provided by Katie Cox and Connor Peters reading poetry, Jacob Vigil singing his ABC's, Maryruth Monahan yodeling, Robyn Dolan on flute and Wade on guitar.

The Ash Fork Historical Society joined us with delicious homemade ice cream.  Just the perfect desert.

Mrs. D's soaps and lotions were also popular once again;)

Donations of unique creations from various Art Guild members were raffled off to raise funds for Art Guild programs.  The Art Guild is considering having next year's Art in the Park Festival in the fall, stay tuned for more info.
